How to make him understand?

Me and my best friend are both males. We were really close & gave each other hugs, smacked each others s, etc. We told each other everything & always stopped each other from making the wrong choices. I had recently broke up with my girlfriend( she was doing too much) & I told him when I was staying over at his house. He responded by saying that I was too good for her & that I deserve a better partner. Then he kisses me & tells me that he is gay & that he has feelings for me. I told him I was bi but I do not have feelings for him. I love him as a friend but that's it. He was really hurt & slept on his couch. I knew he was hurt so I tried to talk to him but he just ignored me. He wouldn't respond to my texts, calls, IMs, & always ignored me at school. We have been friends since elementary( we are seniors now). He is my rock & has always helped me overcome all of my problems. I really don't know what to do, how can I get him to understand that I don't want to lose our friendship??
